Meet our Board of Directors

Bez Martin
Executive Director
With her background in youth participation and advocacy, Bez is a JNC qualified youth worker who brings skills and expertise in community engagement, youth work, participation, children's rights and community organising. Bez has worked in both the voluntary and statutory sectors, recently moving into the charity sector. Bez's work has seen her lead national practice and she has spoken about rights-based participation practice both nationally and internationally.
Bez's work has received the following awards:
Children and Young People Now Award Professional Development and Recruitment Award 2020.
British Youth Council, Youth Voice Star Award, Award for Innovation.
National Leaving Care Benchmarking Forum Best Project 2020 for 'Quaran-teens'.
National Young Advisors 'Best Partnership' Award.

Alan Curtis
Non Executive Director
Alan is a qualified teacher gaining his qualification from Leicester University. Teaching English in schools in both London and Leicester eventually becoming Head of English in one school and moving to another to lead the Communication Studies Faculty.
Having taught for a number of years Alan was appointed as Senior Project Manager at the School Development Support Agency, a not for profit company working with education providers and children's services. Working across the 5-19 years age range, Alan had a diverse portfolio including community cohesion, children and young people’s participation, raising achievement, healthy schools and anti-bullying.
Alan had an opportunity to take early retirement but has continued to take an interest in education. He's done a full term as Chair of Governors in two city primary schools and has recently become a governor in another. He also mentors Year 10 and 11's on a voluntary basis in a local secondary school. For a number of years he was a trustee of an organisation that supports male survivors of sexual abuse and is currently a tree warden for Leicester City Council. He manages a community garden project and is on a waiting list for an allotment

Antonia Dixey
Non Executive Director
Chair of the Board
Antonia Dixey is a participation and co-production specialist with 20+ years experience helping organisations learn through lived experience and act on what they hear. As a Non-Executive Director, Antonia supports the Board to strengthen governance, strategy and sustainability, championing the belief that stories can prevent harm, inspire action and help make 'never again' a reality.

Caroline Newey
Company Secretary
Caroline has worked previously in banking and worked in administration for nearly 25 years, most recently working for the last 8 years in the medical and charity sector. Caroline brings skills and expertise in project management, public relations, marketing and fundraising.
